Taking The Low Road
I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list. – Susan Sontag
As I mentioned last week I am experiencing a flurry of travel: Minnesota, the far reaches of Wisconsin and, currently, Scotland where I am composing this on my phone. These involved every emotion imaginable from the death-related sorrow of my mother's funeral, to the contemplative introspection and inspiration of a poetry conference, to boundless joy at the majesty of Scotland.
Throw into all of this the frustration and, admittedly, the freedom that comes with being locked out of my email as I traverse a foreign country and, well, it has been a wild few weeks.
It is funny how much I miss the mundanity of routine; my writing desk, my yoga, daily walks and my fishing. Included in that is my weekly Substack newsletter. I am brutally aware of the privilege afforded me in being able to move about the country and world, but there really is no place like home. And I cannot wait to get back to it.
I will be back next week.

Scotland! A dream of mine. Maybe one day. Safe travels and enjoy!
